Soul Work Is Sacred Work: A Poem on Healing, Fire & Becoming

Welcome to my world.

My journal.

A sacred space I’ve returned to again and again—

to write,

to release,

to whisper to the Most High.

On December 7, 2018, I penned a poem called Soul Work.

I had no idea it would become a vessel—

one of the many ways God would later use my voice

to pour light into others.

Back then, I was knee-deep in my own becoming.

This piece was a reminder to myself:

The work within is the work that matters most.

Now, years later—with more clarity, more softness, more God—I share this poem with you.

If you are in a season of shedding…

If you are tired, questioning, or clinging to comfort…

I hope this serves as a mirror. A nudge. A balm.

Nothing you walk through is wasted.

Enjoy, beloved.

Soul Work

Soul work—

it’s not always pretty.

Sometimes it cracks you wide open

and leaves you sitting in your own shadows.

But don’t be fooled—

that discomfort?

It’s an invitation.

A sacred purge.

A holy becoming.

It teaches you how to fight

what was never yours to carry.

It unearths the lies you were told

and makes room for the truth to take root.

Yes, it’s messy.

But it equips you.

To rise.

To return.

To remember who you are.

I know—

the comfort is tempting.

But ask yourself this:

How much is your future worth?

Your gold is on the other side

and to get there

you’ll walk through fire.

But don’t fear the burn—

it will never abandon you.

It will cleanse you.

It will clarify you.

It will carry you.

And once the smoke clears,

you’ll see—

that very fire?

It was light all along.

This photo was taken in December 2018.

I looked so over it—and I was.

But, hear me:

Stay the course.

It’s not just going to get better—

you’re going to get bolder and feel more free to be you.

Romans 8:28 reminds us:

“All things work together for the good of those who love the Lord

and are called according to His purpose.”

Even the mess.

Even the waiting.

Even the fire.

So if you're decluttering, purging, or just plain tired—

remember:

God loves you too much to let anything go unused.

Jeremiah 29:11 still stands.

Keep Soul Working.

It’s so worth it.

With love,

Dr. Amirah
