Dear Radiant Soul,
I often wonder where we will be in 2025. With it literally being 61 days away, I’m sure you’re probably thinking, “…not much farther than where we are today, Dr. A!” And…maybe you’re right…but I sure do hope you’re wrong.
You see, over the last decade, we have experienced a shift in how we communicate, create, and show up in the world. In fact, are WE still showing up?
AI and social media has transformed our world in many ways; providing us with hands-on information, innovative ways to connect, and dynamic ideas to generate the next viral social media thrill. But with each passing use, we’re creating a world full of content and less genuine expression of who we are.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I, too, have enjoyed the luxuries these resources provide. For someone who isn’t the best graphic designer, I have enjoyed asking AI to create an image or suggest successful social media campaigns….but am I desiring to make those things because it’s a part of my calling/passion or will it simply place me in the reigns to show up in the world as another person with....
Hella likes, enormous visibility, and deep embedded sorrows?
You see, as we approached 2023, the Women’s Health Magazine published an article on influencers and mental health. Within the article, which I highly suggest you go read, many high ranking influencers mentioned struggles with paranoia, anxiety, and deep cultural sadness; stating, “the internet is so emotionally volatile…that I wake up feeling zero.”
Zero energy.
Zero creativity.
Zero joy.
It’s not because they aren’t popping on the gram or their TikTok numbers aren’t out the roof….so why do you think that’s happening?
In today’s fast paced world, with so much pressure to be relevant paired with the enticing incentive to make quick money online, so many have given up on being who they are and it shows. Today, we see more individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, suicidal thoughts, and other mental health challenges. There’s an alarm sounding off all over the world within individuals who appear to be doing well, because they have a large online presence, yet internally they are battling with burnout, self identity issues, and pressures to experience a successful advertising campaign….and the sad thing about it is, most times, it’s not for something they love to do or have a passion for. But, it will bring more money and attention their way.
The world loves it when you chase popularity over authenticity.
It loves the thrill when you engage in what’s trendy and flashy.
It celebrates when you keep your true self in the shadows so you can show off what’s ‘popping.’
But what about your light?
What about the depths of you that suffer from not showing up as who you are?
What about the inner voice that screams or cries every time you share a reel that ain't even real?
What about the things you love doing when nobody else is watching?
Doesn’t that part of you deserve to be seen?
Doesn’t that part of you deserve to be heard?
Doesn’t that part of you deserve to be loved?
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus encourages us to shine our light for all to see….not to discover our light and feel our light, just to place it underneath a basket so nobody knows just how great God made us. So why are soooo many of us doing that?
To be the next what!? Well-known sad soul?
No.
You are worth much more than that.
You are much more than that.
It’s time to embrace the parts of you that don’t fit into an app's likability.
It’s time for you to choose to like yourself.
Journaling is the one of the best ways to begin to get reacquainted with who you truly are.
It gives you an immediate view of where you are mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
It welcomes space for you to share what’s on your heart.
Most importantly, journaling provides you the opportunity to express and be yourself without judgment. Just you, the page, and your thoughts.
I know it doesn’t appear sexy.
I understand if it’s not the most popular thing to do….
But neither is drowning in your own pain or dimming your beautiful, radiant light.
If you’re ready to improve how you feel, I’ve created a digital worksheet that guides you through some reflections to help you identify, own, and embody your truths. Click here to access it.
The world may not always celebrate the real you—and that’s okay. This journey to wholeness isn’t about the world; it’s about you.
It’s about you feeling good in your own skin.
It’s about letting your light shine without apology.
It’s about looking in the mirror and being proud of the person you’ve worked so hard to become.
If this resonates with you, feel free to support my realness. This will help me continue showing up in the world with my light shining bright - being unapologetically who God created me to be….and when you do the same, let me know! I would love to support and applaud your courage to ensure that….2025 does not look the same.
With Love and Support,
Dr. A
