Dear Radiant Soul,

I’ve been reflecting on the deeper truth of growth and I would love to share that with you today. In recent years, we’ve noticed an increase in individuals seeking personal, emotional, and spiritual growth - with many embracing these practices to help them overcome challenges and grow into the best versions of themselves. As these are, effective and essential, practices I have a passion of sharing, it has been fun and rewarding seeing individuals connect to mindfulness, meditation, journaling, spiritual growth, and resilience training. These practices shape who we are, teaching us vital lessons and tools that help us grow, change, and step into who we desire to become. However, I’ve realized that, as these practices are embraced, there comes a time when they start to feel more like doing than being. This is when we are called to go beyond practicing the work and step fully into being the work.

The goal isn’t to stay in the space of practicing forever.

Growth asks us to move from knowing what to do to simply being that. It’s about embodying the essence of those practices so deeply that they no longer feel like deliberate actions. They become a part of who you are.

This is where real transformation happens.

Honoring Your Practices While Embodying Your Growth

Every practice you’ve adopted along the way—whether it was meditating, grounding yourself spiritually, or working through challenges—has been essential. Your inner growth practices help you thrive and give you the tools to manage life’s complexities. However, as you evolve, those practices shouldn't just stay as rituals. They should start to blend into who you are and how you show up in the world.

Think of it like learning how to ride a bike. At first, it takes effort to balance, pedal, and stay upright. Over time, though, riding becomes second nature. You no longer need to think about it. You simply ride the bike. The same thing happens with your personal practices. They become integrated into your life so fully that they’re a part of your being, not just something you do.

From Doing to Being: Internalizing What You've Practiced

Moving from doing to being is a significant shift. It’s not about abandoning the practices that brought you here. Instead, it’s about recognizing that you’ve internalized them so deeply that they have become a part of you. You no longer need to sit down and meditate to find calm; the calm is already within you. You don’t need to force yourself to overcome small challenges; you simply flow through them because you’ve embodied the lessons they taught you.

For example, I no longer meditate as often because I’ve become meditative in how I live. The practice of mindfulness is now woven into everything I do—whether I’m moving through my day or sitting in stillness. The work of intentionally making time to sit still, no longer feels like work because the feeling I obtain from stillness has become a part of my natural state. This is the essence of being. You move from practicing something to it exuding in everything you do.

The Importance of Doing the Work Before Becoming

If you’re still in the process of doing the work, know that this stage is essential. Before you can embody the practices, you must first put in the effort to establish them. You cannot skip over the foundational work. It’s through this consistent practice that you build the habits and mindset needed to one day live them naturally.

Doing the work—whether that’s engaging in mindfulness activities, writing out your thoughts through journaling, or connecting with God for guidance and wisdom—creates the solid foundation you’ll need to reach the next level of growth. Without doing the work, you never fully internalize the lessons or become the version of yourself that you know you’re capable of becoming.

I encourage you to embrace this process, even if it feels challenging at times. Every step of the journey, from practicing mindfulness with our Mindfulness Activity Worksheet to journaling your deepest thoughts in your favorite Mindfulness Journal, is shaping you into the person who will eventually live those practices effortlessly. When you consistently connect with God, you’re also seeking divine guidance to navigate the challenges and receive the wisdom needed to grow.

Trust that this process is vital to your transformation.

The Next Level of Growth: Being Not Doing

At this stage, the practices that once took effort have become effortless. This doesn’t mean you no longer value them; it means you’ve embodied them so deeply that you don’t need to practice them consciously. They flow through you in everything you do.

The shift to being is the next level of growth. It’s not about checking off tasks or completing rituals—it’s about living in alignment with the wisdom and experiences you’ve gained. When you reach this point, your actions and intentions come from a place of ease, authenticity, and purpose.

You stop doing the work and start being the work.

The Shift Applies to All of Us - No Matter the Journey

We all reach a moment when we realize that the things we’ve practiced for so long have become second nature. Whether you’re just starting a new chapter in life, transitioning into new roles, or moving forward in your personal growth, this message applies to you. There’s a point when you stop relying on practices and begin living out the lessons you’ve learned.

Reflect on your own life:

Are you still practicing something you’ve already mastered, or are you ready to step fully into being that?

The shift from doing to being allows you to live in alignment with your growth, trusting that you no longer need to work at it because you’ve already become it.

The Power of Being: Fully Embracing Your Embodiment

Embracing being means acknowledging that you no longer need to prove your growth through practice. It means recognizing that the practices that once took effort have become a part of who you are. The version of yourself that used to do the work was necessary, but now, the version of you today embodies that work without needing to consciously practice it.

For me, this realization has been liberating. The wisdom I now share flows from a place of being, not from specific actions or practices. This is where real alignment and ease come into play.

Isaiah 43:19 speaks to this beautifully: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” In your seasons of growth, God is always guiding you into new ways of being. At first, it feels like you’re stuck in a wilderness or a dry barren land, then one day, you begin to recognize how every step has been a part of God’s plan - teaching you how to flow, grow, and evolve - and it doesn’t stop there. As you become a greater version of yourself, you develop new inspiration, give birth to new challenges, and step into new seasons that keep you in a perpetual cycle of evolution....if you allow it.

When what you have done begins to feel like a chore, do you not perceive it? God is calling you higher.

Being is the Goal

It’s time to fully embrace what you know. The practices and lessons you’ve relied on are no longer just things you do—they have become part of who you are. Honor your growth by recognizing that being is the ultimate goal. You’ve done the work. Now, it’s time to trust that your growth has led you here—to a place of ease, intention, and alignment.

For those still doing the work, keep going. This stage is vital. Without it, you won’t be able to fully step into the version of yourself you’re meant to become. Engage in mindfulness, journal your thoughts, and lean on God’s guidance to support you. This is where your transformation begins.

With grace and growth,

Dr. A
